Neuro Linguistic Programming
Often described as the “user manual for the brain”, neuro linguistic programming, or NLP for short, encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and programming.
The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we interface and communicate with other people and our programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between the brain, language and the body.
Quoted from the NLP University website
How Does it Work?
In summarised form, we absorb information from the outside world, through our 5 senses, which are then processed by our brain, using 3 major filters.
Once the processing is complete, our perception of the event (negative or positive) is held within us, known as an Internal Representation.
Depending upon whether the Internal Representation is positive or negative, it generates a specific emotional State (or feelings) within us which, in turn, influences our Physiology (our body language and posture, etc.).
Ultimately, this is shown in the outside world in our Behaviour and it is our external behaviour that generates the Results we get, (even if we don’t want them!)
What Makes it so Beneficial?
NLP empowers you to understand the strategies in your daily life and the often, unconscious, habits you have acquired. If any of these patterns are holding you back, NLP enables you to create new strategies that can put you back on track. It can help you make positive changes, create new choices, be more effective with others, break free of old habits, self-destructive patterns and behaviours, and think more clearly about what it is you want and how to get it.
NLP is powerful stuff and involves many tools and techniques as well as models and new ways of thinking.
Application
This is the best part! NLP can remove, in minutes, negative patterns that may have been holding you back for years.
You can, literally, re-programme your mind to think differently about anyone and all situations. You can be free of limiting beliefs, fear and anxiety and start to create a brilliant future for yourself. I know it sounds too good to be true but it isn’t. All you need to do is be aware of how you create your reality now and the unconscious strategies you use each day. Once you are aware of them, you have a choice. You can change or you can stay the same. Your choice will generate the results you get.
I use NLP in conversation when I coach, I use it in training when I deliver communication and leadership workshops and I also use it within my hypnotherapy sessions.
You need never feel afraid; in fact, you will often find yourself laughing as we go through the processes. The best thing of all is that you re-gain control of your life and the choices you make. Once you know how easy it is to influence yourself, you won’t want to stop!

Hypnotherapy
The Difference Between Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
It’s important to understand that hypnosis and hypnotherapy are not the same thing. Hypnosis is the process of getting into trance. Hypnotherapy uses the hypnotic trance to help you achieve a goal or create a positive change in your thinking to help you solve a problem.
Is It Safe?
Completely! In fact, you do not fall asleep or lose consciousness at any point. You will only feel deeply relaxed but able to hear my voice at all times. Your mind may even wander to other thoughts, which is perfectly fine.
You can never be forced to do anything that is against your wishes or your moral code of conduct. So there’s no need to worry. You will always be safe and always in control.
There is no chance at all that you won’t come out of trance.
All I am going to do is have a chat with your unconscious mind and tweak some of your programming so that you can enjoy your life, completely free of the problem you are currently experiencing.
Most of my clients, hypnotised for the first time, tell me they don’t think it worked because they were fully alert throughout the process. They are not aware that they were in trance but that doesn’t matter. Their unconscious mind knows and that’s all I need.
How Does It Work?
As you may have realised by now, or if you’ve read the NLP section on this website, we have two minds – the Conscious and Unconscious Minds.
Whilst your Conscious Mind is the one that you are aware of, it can only process 7 pieces of information per second, on average and so it deletes information it doesn’t need. Your Unconscious Mind, on the other hand, stores all your memories, experiences, aspirations, feelings and is even responsible for the health of your body. It holds a blueprint of your body in its prime condition. Everything you’ve ever known and experienced is stored in the archives of your mind. Imagine your Unconscious Mind as the biggest set of filing cabinets you’ve ever seen!
Your Unconscious Mind follows the instructions given to it by your Conscious Mind and does not understand negatives. This is why it is essential that you are aware of your thoughts and your focus. Even if you think about what you don’t want to happen, your Unconscious Mind will ignore the “don’t want” part of your thought (because it doesn’t understand it) and deliver the focus of your thought. For example, “I don’t want to fail my driving test,” or “I hope I don’t put on weight on holiday,” will result in the very things you don’t want! So choose your thoughts and how you word them very carefully!
Always go for the positive : “I want to pass my driving test,” and “I hope I maintain my current weight on holiday,” will lead to better results for you.
Your Conscious Mind is normally very active and quite interfering! Through hypnosis, I can access your Unconscious Mind which is patiently waiting for instruction. I can make positive suggestions to it to implement and action and you will notice a change in your behaviour in the coming days. You probably won’t even know why you are doing things differently – you will just feel like it or a new idea will emerge in your head. Funny that.
All you need to do is relax and listen to my voice. Once you are feeling deeply relaxed (in trance) I will then make suggestions to your unconscious mind and then bring you out of trance. My suggestions will be based on your desired outcomes.
Remember: you will always feel awake and fully alert. You will not feel hypnotised!
What Can Hypnotherapy Help With?
A wide range of issues can be dealt with such as:
Increasing confidence
Controlling emotions
Giving up smoking
Losing weight
Nail-biting
Removing phobias
Back pain (and other physical pain)
Having increased energy
Sleeping better
Reducing alcohol intake
Becoming more proactive
Enhancing performance in artistic, academic, athletic and career fields
Application
I can use hypnosis and hypnotherapy in isolation for specific outcomes.
Before conducting the hypnotherapy a big part of our session will be about finding out what your problem is, how it occurs in your life and what you want instead. Then I will build that into your own personal “script”, as you sit back and relax.
I can’t tell you how many sessions you need, as this will vary from person to person.

EFT
Emotional Freedom Technique
Have you ever been accused of being over-emotional or “too” sensitive? Have you ever felt this way yourself – that your emotions are controlling you instead of the other way round?
Then help is at hand! Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a meridian therapy that involves tapping acupressure points around the face and upper body. It can be used to help with any issue where emotions lie at the core. For example, when you are feeling anxious, stressed or depressed, you can tap on any of those negative conditions and you will be amazed at the results.
When I see new clients for anxiety, I often begin with EFT, to alleviate their stress about seeing me! I also use it to allay their fear that they won’t ever recover from their anxious way of being.
How Does it Work?
Gary Craig developed EFT as an offshoot from Thought Field Therapy. By tapping around meridian points on the body, any emotional build-up is then released. For example, unpleasant thoughts that keep returning, negative feelings and cravings, call all be eliminated very quickly. It is suggested that when emotions are repressed and unexpressed, they fester internally and lead to illness. By tapping on the meridian points and speaking your truth, however negative, the emotion is finally expressed and released. The “blip” in the energy system is relieved and wellness is restored, It may sound a bit weird but it really does work, otherwise I would not advocate it.
What Makes it so Beneficial?
One of the best things about EFT is that, once you have been taught where to tap, you can repeat the process on yourself whenever you need it. You don’t need to keep seeing a Practitioner! It’s quick, easy to do AND IT WORKS.
Application
I use it in combination with other interventions. This handy technique can become your secret weapon as it can eliminate fear and anxiety about so many daily situations.
